Operating principle

A microswitch opens and closes through the gravity and buoyancy of a float that moves with liquid level. The upper and lower stops used to set the levels can be positioned freely.

When liquid level is below the float, float mass lowers the shaft and the microswitch is closed.

As liquid level rises, the shaft remains in this state after the float leaves the lower stop. When buoyancy acts on the upper stop, the rod and shaft rise and the microswitch opens.

The microswitch remains open until liquid level falls and float mass acts on the lower stop. The responsive microswitch provides self-holding operation between the upper and lower limits.

A spring supports the rod weight while compensating for changes in microswitch operating load.
